DOE APPOINTS FOUR NEW MEMBERS TO OAK RIDGE SITE SPECIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
Oak Ridge, Tenn. – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced the appointment of Ron Murphree, Donnie Patterson, Sondra Sarten, and Steve Stow to the Oak Ridge Site Specific Advisory Board (ORSSAB). ORSSAB is a federally chartered citizens’ panel that provides recommendations to the DOE Oak Ridge Environmental Management Program. “With these new members we continue to strengthen the Board through the diversity of where they are from, what they do, and the life experiences they bring,” said Gerald Boyd, Manager of DOE’s Oak Ridge Office. “This group has important work to do and these new appointees will provide a great contribution to the Board.”
Murphree, who resides in Knoxville, is a registered engineer and certified professional estimator with 25 years of construction-related experience. Since 1996, he has been the chief estimator for Denark Construction Company in Knoxville. He is past president of the Knoxville Downtown Sertoma Club and the Associated General Contractors, and is active in Knoxville and Knox County government. Murphree has more than seven years of active military duty. Patterson is a boiler operator for the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He lives in Oak Ridge and is a member of Keep Anderson County Beautiful. Sarten is the owner of RS Construction and Fabrication in Lenoir City, which provides fabricated metal products and construction services to a variety of companies and organizations, including DOE, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, BNG America, and UT-Battelle. She also worked as a cost estimator for Lockwood Greene at the K-25 Plant (now Heritage Center). Sarten is a Lenoir City resident and is active in church and civic organizations. Stow, who resides in Knoxville, recently retired from UT-Battelle, where he worked as director of the American Museum of Science and Energy. He was involved with remediation and land use issues on the Oak Ridge Reservation for 25 years and is the author or co-author of over 70 publications and numerous reports. He is active in professional organizations and is a fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Geological Society of America. ORSSAB meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the DOE Information Center in Oak Ridge.
