MISSION

To provide technical support and assistance to Federally Recognized Native American in energy, employment, education in support of the DOE-ORO mission.

GOALS

  1. Encourage and enroll Native American participation in educational programs ranging from kindergarten through college.
  2. To provide computer equipment and support to Native Americans for use in their educational systems.
  3. To increase Native American participation in upward mobility programs.
  4. To increase the employment of Native American within DOE.
  5. To establish a DOE-ORO Native American Home Page on the Internet
  6. To establish a Native American communications network to foster interest and participation in Indian events and activities.
  7. To establish a community outreach program for Native Americans
  8. To attend the American Indian Science & Engineering Society meetings.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  1. Conduct and participate in the Annual November Native American Program.
  2. Provided approximate $300,000.00 worth of computer and associated equipment to the Eastern Band of Cherokees.
  3. Participate in the Pellissippi State College Culture Diversity Program Week.
  4. Conducted Brown-Bag luncheon with feature speaker on Native American topics.
  5. Provide 4 Native American displays within Oak Ridge During the Month of November.
  6. Developing a reference library of Native American Books, Article, Newspapers, Pictures, etc..
  7. Developing a DOE-ORO Native American implementation procedure.
  8. Conducted and Teacher/Student Sampler workshop for the EB of Cherokee.
