Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act
The Oak Ridge Office of Chief Counsel is responsible for administering policies, programs, and procedures to ensure DOE compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA), 5 U.S.C. 552 and 5 U.S.C. 552a, respectively.
DOE continuously gathers site specific information about its facilities and record repositories. Links to DOE sites and major contractors are found at Energy.gov. The resources on these pages are provided to aid in finding answers to your questions about programs of the Department of Energy and to obtain information that is publicly available without submitting a FOIA request. If the information is not available here or on another Department website, submit a Freedom of Information Act request electronically.
Requesters who have submitted FOIA requests to the Oak Ridge Office on or after December 31, 2008, may obtain the date received by this office and the estimated completion date by clicking here. You will need to know your FOIA tracking number to identify your request on the listing. Your FOIA tracking number will be included in correspondence from the Department upon receipt of your request.
If you need additional information about your request, call the Oak Ridge Office FOIA Requester Service Center Hotline at (865) 576-1216 or toll free 1-800-382-6938, option 7. If your request has been transferred to another component of the Department to be processed, please contact the FOIA Requester Service Center at the location where your request has been transferred. You may access the telephone number to the appropriate FOIA Requester Service Center at http://management.energy.gov/contact_us/contacts_foia-pa.htm.
