DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY TO DISCUSS PADUCAH ACCELERATED CLEANUP PLAN

PADUCAH, Ky. – The Department of Energy (DOE) will hold a public meeting in Paducah to discuss a proposed plan for accelerating environmental cleanup at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant on Tuesday, June 18. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in Room 101 of Crounse Hall (Engineering Building) at Paducah Community College.

The Department's Senior Management Team, consisting of William Murphie, DOE Manager for cleanup activities at the Paducah and Portsmouth (Ohio) gaseous diffusion plants, and Mell Roy, from DOE Headquarters, will be available to discuss the proposed accelerated cleanup plan for the site. They will also make themselves available on Wednesday, June 19, for further discussion about the plan with local groups or representatives, upon request.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region IV will also have representatives at the meeting.
